5 Spice Chilli Wings with Ginger, Egg and Sweetcorn Orzo

We enjoy lots of different cuisines in our home. Each of my girls have their favourite. It ranges from Spanish, south American, Greek, Indian to Asian. A firm favourite has always been Chinese.

Nothing beats a homemade fusion 5 spice chicken with a side. This is one of our faves that uses Orzo which my youngest adores.
I like the heat and spiciness.
Its put together but the dishes are great on their own or for a party platter with other south asian sides.
We love it.

Ingredients:

4 cloves garlic, minced
3 green onions, chopped
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon Chinese five-spice powder
2 tablespoons fish sauce
2 tablespoons light soy sauce
2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
1 pinch salt to taste
16 chicken wings cut into niblets
2 limes, quartered
1 tsp chilli flakes
1 tsp chilli powder

Method:

Whisk together the garlic, green onion, sugar, five-spice powder, fish sauce, soy sauce, chili sauce, chilli flakes and chilli powder and salt in a bowl.
Next arrange the chicken pieces in a shallow, non-metallic dish. Spoon the sauce mixture over the chicken to evenly coat. Cover the dish with cling film and refrigerate 8 hours or overnight.

Heat your oven.
Arrange the marinated chicken on the prepared baking sheet. Keep any marinade you may have. Bake in the preheated oven until sticky, about 45 minutes. Turn them over midway and brush with any remaining marinade, but don’t let them dry.
Serve with lime wedges on the side.

GINGER ORZO WITH EGG AND SWEETCORN

Now make a well in the middle, add your beaten eggs. Scramble this keeping it in the middle. When the eggs set mix this in with the sweetcorn. Add the Orzo, and cook for a short while till the Orzo is heated through.

Once everything is well amalgamated add your black pepper, soy sauce, stir in well.
Check for seasoning and serve!

If you prefer you can use noodles or rice instead of Orzo.
